Thornton, CO: Denver Premium Outlets officially opened for business on Thursday, September 27th, offering a mix of fashion brands, athletic apparel, and a diverse range of dining options.

Simon Property Group was responsible for the development of the new $134 million, 94-acre shopping center, introducing over 72 stores and hundreds of unique brands to the area.

According to Stephen Yalof, the CEO of Simon Premium Outlets, “e-commerce might be pushing some retailers to move toward a combination of web and brick-and-mortar operations, the experience of shopping cannot be replicated by a website or an app alone.”

With architecture inspired by the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains, a number of elements unique to the Colorado landscape were incorporated into the design. A Coloradan outdoor experience lies at the center of the mall, striking a balance between the organic and the man-made – LEED certified, complete with heavy timber and steel architecture, reclaimed building materials, and an openness that is framed the natural setting around it.

The mall also features several fast-casual food options, art installations, and a playground with an archaeological pit for children to discover.

Britten’s large format print and exclusive hardware can be seen throughout the premium outlet center. It was integrated in such a way that the retail experience is seamless: LED backlit frames were built into the design, BannerDrop® ceiling hoists in the food pavilion, and banner brackets highlight fashion brands and dining options available on the premises.

Heavy duty outdoor standees informed shoppers about a variety of amenities including Denver Premium Outlets’ VIP Shopper Club, where guests can receive extra deals and exclusive offers.

The opening weekend was a celebration of fashion and fun – flying stunt dogs, a dog rescue adoption event, and a chance to meet Pro Bowl wide receiver Demaryius Thomas at the Under Armour store were all among the activities scheduled.

Brick and mortar retail is still thriving in America; the outlet mall is expected to generate about $100 million in revenue for the city of Thornton over its lifetime.
